Electric heavy trucks are gaining momentum across Asia as higher fuel costs, improving vehicle economics and expanding charging infrastructure accelerate fleet electrification.
China’s exports of heavy electric trucks more than doubled year-on-year during the four months following the escalation of the Iran conflict, with roughly half of those vehicles shipped to South and Southeast Asia. Shipments to Southeast Asia nearly tripled, highlighting growing demand for zero-emission commercial transport across the region.
Charging availability and initial vehicle costs remain key challenges, but integrated solutions combining vehicles, energy storage and charging infrastructure are increasingly improving the commercial case for electric fleets.
